FAQ
Q: Why do our ducts need cleaning?
A: A: Air Conditioning comes in various forms, but all draw in and blow out air, collecting airborne particles. Most systems incorporate filters to help tackle this problem, but some dirt still gets through. This settles in the system, reducing airflow, efficiency and effectiveness. Filters become saturated, impeding the flow of air and straining fan motors. Some other aspects of air conditioning systems need regular monitoring and adjustment, such as refrigerant pressures and sensors. For all of these reasons air conditioning systems need cleaning and maintaining regularly.
Building managers also have a legal obligation to ensure that ventilation systems are cleaned 'as appropriate and subject to 'a suitable' system of maintenance'.
Q: How often does our ventilation system need cleaning?
A: This depends on several factors. Typically systems are maintained between 3 months and a year depending on utilisation. Our initial survey will assess your particular needs.
Q: My insurer has asked that we show evidence that our ventilation system is maintained and in good working order. How can I satisfy this request?
A: A: On completion of our work we will take samples and photographs from the insides of the ductwork. These samples will be sent to an independent laboratory for analysis. If the samples are satisfactory a certificate is sent back to us. These certificates will be provided to you and will satisfy your insurers request, as well as the requirements in TR/19.
Q: How long does the process take?
A: This depends upon the size of the system, access limitations and the level of work required. We will be happy to arrange a free survey at your convenience, at which stage we can provide you with an accurate time frame and quote.
